On the ninth of May around five o’clock in nineteen sixty four
before God, family and friends we married appearing quite mature
t’was late afternoon in Frankston not far from the ocean’s shore
Marching girls at the chapel door forming a guard of honour
in white and gold a courtesy a token forever to treasure
on the ninth of May around five o’clock in nineteen sixty four
Smiling until our jaws ached with bouquets a floral splendour
to a session with the photographer immortalising the rapture
t’was late afternoon in Frankston not far from the ocean’s shore
Our wedding breakfast was full of fun without any hint of rancour
the band played rock and roll the preferred music of our culture
on the ninth of May around five o’clock in nineteen sixty four
A honeymoon in Queensland you granted to me as a favour
our wedded life was starting out to be a fantastic adventure
t’was late afternoon in Frankston not far from the ocean’s shore
Evolved to a family of eight I reiterate with fervour
beginning fifty years ago with blessing you can’t measure
on the ninth of May around five o’clock in nineteen sixty four
t’was late afternoon in Frankston not far from the ocean’s shore
This is a lovely, romantic poem…steals my heart. It seems to have a specific form. What is it? Thanks for sharing your beauty in this world. ~Marie :o)

G’day Marie,
Thank you, that is a wonderful complement, it is done in the … villanelle … form, a format that I personally love and use quite often, this site can explain the structure .

G’day Redgladiola,
Thank you, what will be will be, albeit I have no doubt that your life’s journey will continue to be a rewarding one if you want it to be. 🙂
