Sounds Right

Daily Prompt

Sounds Right

This is clearly subjective, but some words really sound like the thing they describe (personal favourites: puffin; bulbous; fidgeting). Do you have an example of such a word (or, alternatively, of a word that sounds like the exact opposite of what it refers to)? What do you think creates this effect?

Near Miss be damned

Things must be orderly to appease me

imagine how lingo effects my brain

results from being pedantic you see

Doesn’t make life easy I’m sure you’ll agree

the near miss statement always jerks my chain

things must be orderly to appease me

The gist is reversed you’ll hear me decree

it doesn’t make sense I will try to explain

results from being pedantic you see

As hard as I try I can’t let it be

a near miss is a hit so should remain

things must be orderly to appease me

the majority a supreme stymie

suggesting my objections are in vain

results from being pedantic you see

I accept most will always disagree

pedantically I’ll never be free

things must be orderly to appease me

results from being pedantic you see
